PREVENTION GUIDE




    ​The regulation specifies that there must be a working smoke alarm on each floor including the basement. . 
    The regulation specifies that a smoke alarm has a life span of 10 years. 
    ​Leave 1 meter of clearance around the electrical panel so that it is easily accessible in an emergency.
    A carbon monoxide alarm is required when using a combustion heating system. (wood stove, pellet, propane, oil, natural gas and when a garage is attached to the building) ​​
    The storage of propane cylinders inside a building is prohibited.​
    Clear exits allow for quick and safe evacuation in an emergency situation.​
    Overloaded electrical connections are a major cause of fire.​
    A minimum of 4 inches of clearance must be left near baseboard heaters.​
